December book suggestions
Lots of schools currently have an increased focus on supporting children’s mental health and wellbeing, so this month we have selected two books you can use to support children with identifying, understanding and managing their emotions.
New Books
The Colour Monster by Anna LlenasKey stage 1, PSHE This story provides an engaging way in to helping children identify their emotions, and understand the idea of mixed feelings. Our planning contains lots of activity ideas, including circle time suggestions and how to use the concept of sorting feelings into jars for ongoing work on identifying emotions in the classroom. |
Bottled by Tom & Jo BrassingtonKey stage 1 & 2, PSHE Bottled was written to help teachers create an emotionally honest space within their classrooms. The book will help children grow their range of vocabulary to describe emotions. Key concepts are identified in our planning, and further resources can be find on the Bottled website. |
